And This Is Who You Voted For

There are a lot of things this COVID-19 pandemic is forcing us to face about how things in this country are run. The orange bastard in the white house is using the Defense Production Act of 1950 to force meat packing plants to stay open, but had to be pressured to use the Defense Production Act to force manufacturing companies to produce testing supplies for COVID-19 or ventilators for hospitals.

He has turned the CDC into a toothless lion. The latest CD report about conditions in meat packing plants, has some many phrases like…where possible, if feasible. And the conditions they are talking about, the solutions for those conditions should not be optional.

Those of you who voted for this ass hole, fuck you, because you are the fucking problem. I hate you and you deserve to burn in hell.

Nope, Not Today

Ok, so I’m waiting on them to make my breakfast this morning, and I was talking with one of the managers like I usually do. He and I have a chat about the current election.

We talk about how some people believe that the elections are all predetermined, and I say that I don’t believe that, nor do I believe in the Illuminati. Another lady is waiting on her food and gives me this evil ass side eye. Makes no sense to me, but hey, everyone is entitled to side eye a comment.

As she and I are walking out, she says to me, in the most condescending tone I’ve heard in a long time…”it doesn’t matter if you believe something, it is still true.” She goes on to mention that black folks have been voting democrat for 60 years and it has gotten us nothing, and that she is not going to vote.

I say to her, then that makes you part of the problem and I walk to my car. After I sad that, before I start walking to the car, she gives me this evil look as if she wanted to swing on me. Seriously…you jump in my conversation, give me some shitty condescending remark, then get mad because I don’t take your shit, and I have something to say about it.

I had time this morning and I am not the one for her bullshit.

Rule #007, Be Excellent To Each Other

On Monday, as I was leaving for lunch, a student asks me for $0.05. Now, I don’t usually carry cash, so I gave her my BuzzCard and told her to just swipe it in the vending machine to get what she was going to get if I had the $0.05 to give her. And just for clarity, a BuzzCard is our on campus ID card, and you can put money on it to use at most places on campus. But back to the story.

So she has this look on her face of disbelief, and I have a look of confusion on mine. She then says that she can’t believe I did that. To which I told her, hey, if I can help when someone needs help, I help. I’m not sure if she was a grad student or not, but she was a brown skinned sista who was in need. Now, anyone who really knows me, knows that I believe that we have to look out for each other, because no one else is going to.

So as we are standing there, she proceeds to tell me how beautiful of a person I am for letting her use my BuzzCard to get what she was going to get. Now, it was something from the vending machine, and it was maybe $1.75, not a big deal at all to me, but I get that the gesture is what she was shocked by. She says how people just don’t stop and help other people these days, let alone just buy them what it is they were trying to get. We talked a for a bit, and then went our separate ways.

In life, we all have the power to help or harm people. Which of those options we choose is completely up to each individual. I choose to help people when I can, and I hope that my acts of kindness will influence others to do the same. To me, those acts of kindness and our ability to help people are two of the most important reasons why we are here on this rock floating in space.

Safety Glasses

So we found out last week that because of the chemicals that are used in our labs, there will be some safety spot checks later this year, and then randomly to make sure people are practicing proper lab safety. We work with a lot of chemicals, and there have been some explosions and leaks in some of the labs. they are labs, and that is going to happen from time to time.

So even I am now required to put on a pair of safety glasses when I go in the labs. It’s no big deal to me, my attitude is, what works tells me to do at work, I do it, as long as I have no strong moral objection to what I am being told to do.

I had to pick up some surplus equipment this week and some of it had locks on it, and no keys were found. Honestly, I didn’t look that hard, because I was itching to use my new safety glasses. 🙂 So I grabbed the bolt cutters and began breaking locks. And yes, I am glad that I now have safety glasses, because while breaking the locks, a few pieces did fly back and hit me in the face. Mostly because of the way I was breaking the bolts. 🙂

Moral of the story, even computer people need safety glasses. 🙂

Sometimes I Forget That I Am An Adult

…and not in the way that you think. I have undergone a few transitions in my life. There was once a time where I was just a raging ball of anger and people didn’t like being around me. And those that did, they have no idea the amount of love I have for them, for putting up with me during a time where I was the worst kind of ass hole.

That being said, I can actually see that I am not that person any longer. I can actually see the person I am now, and how that person was shaped by they person I used to be. While I am no longer the ranging ball of anger I used to be, make no mistake. If you fuck with me or anyone I care about, I will still fuck you up, you just won’t see it coming. 🙂 And that is probably the way it should be.

What prompted this was a post that a friend of mine made about distance relationships. My answer even shocked me a bit. Not because I am not capable of giving good advice, not that I think I am better than anyone else, but sometimes I forget that I can be quite a deep person who can speak volumes about lots of things. The old me was limited to a narrow range of topics. Now that may have been self imposed or it was just a function of who I was at the time. Either way, I have come a long way in a medium length of time.

I am very proud of myself. And if you don’t think I should be, you can go fuck yourself. 🙂

There Is A Reason I Don’t Ask People For Shit

So you tell me you are going to the store, and then coming back. I ask you to get me a copy of Essence with Tracee Ellis Ross on the cover. That should be a simple yes or no question. Why does that request prompt you to ask me 4-5 additional questions.

See, this is why I usually don’t ask people for shit. Because people rarely just say yes or yes no when I ask them questions like this. I don’t understand it, and it irritates the shit out of me. Yet another reason why I don’t spend much time around people. People, most people, annoy the shit out of me. And when I tell them why they annoy the shit out of me, I’m somehow to bad guy.

Will You Please Shut The Fuck Up

I’ve had enough, and you people are pissing me off. I’ve seen so much of it this week, and I can not hold it in any longer.

Yes yes yes, we get it. You hate Valentine’s Day. You don’t think it is a real Holiday. We get it. I’m not sure who hurt you, or what happened to make you feel this way, but trust me, most of us don’t give a fuck. There are plenty of people who don’t celebrate Valentine’s day, and you know what, they don’t have anything to say about it. I wish you would follow suit.

I don’t remember you feeling this diametrically opposed to Christmas, Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, President’s Day, or any of the other numerous holidays that were made up in order to celebrate something and make a quick buck. So take your selective outrage, roll it up, shove it up your ass, and shut the fuck up.

Trust me when I say, no one cares. If you don’t like the holiday and don’t want to celebrate it, that is fine. But don’t push your shitty attitude on to other people. This is a day that people want to use to show their significant other that they love them.aColdGlassOfShutTheFuckUp

Now, the argument can always be made that you should show your significant other all year long that you love them. And that if you do, then why do you have to put forth the extra effort on Valentine’s Day? Guess what, you don’t have to. No one is making you do it. So if you don’t want to do it, that is just fine. Don’t do it, but you know what, shut the fuck up with your selective outrage and I’m better than you because I know it’s a fake holiday bull shit. No one gives a fuck and we are tired of your shitty attitude.

I would go woosa few times, but I this post was my woosa.

If you were offended by this post, maybe you need to take a good hard look in the mirror and re-evaluate your stance on a few things in life? Or, you not take that look in the mirror, but if you don’t, please shut the fuck up.

Too Much Blame On One Man’s Shoulders

So the Atlanta Falcons have fired Mike Smith and we currently do not have a head coach. Prior to us hiring Smith, the Falcons never had back to back winning seasons. NEVER. Despite not having a quality defense, and some suspect offensive players, Smith had a career record with the Falcons of 67–49 (.578), from 2008 – 2014. That is not great, but it’s better than any other coach we had, it’s the best in franchise history.

As I look back over this season, I have said that Mike Smith should not be out head coach, but I have had some time to reflect and think about that. And I am no longer of that opinion. I have been one of the biggest criticizers, and supporters of my Atlanta Falcons, I love this team, and they have their ups and downs. Lord knows being a Falcons fan is not easy, but they are my team. Until the day I die, I will be a Dirty Bird.

That being said, we can not place all the blame on Mike Smith. Smitty did a decent job with the tools he was given. The real issue is that our shitty GM, Thomas Dimitroff, did not give him the tools to do a better job. Until Dimitroff is replaced with a competent GM, our problems will not get better, and the firing of Mike Smith is just the latest example of passing the buck by the ownership.

So as you people cheer and seem to be happy that Mike Smith is gone, remember, he is not the one who makes the decisions of what players we get. He is not the one responsible for us not having a quality defense. He is not the one responsible for letting good players go and signing garbage players.

Yes, he is the head coach, and a lot of the blame is on him, but, in my opinion, more of that blame falls on Thomas Dimitroff, the General Manager. The man who is responsible for the players we have on the team. But why was he not fired? Why does he still have a job? That is a question that we may never get an answer to. And honestly, I would have less issue with the firing of Thomas Dimitroff and the keeping of Mike Smith.
